The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) is India’s only recognised professional body for developing and regulating the field of Company Secretaries.

It is a leading national professional organisation established in 1980 by an act of Parliament known as the Company Secretaries Act.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs of the Government of India oversees ICSI’s operations.

How to become a Company Secretary (CS)?

CS Executive Entrance Test (EET)

  • Eligibility: SSLC pass or HSC(+2) pass or UG pass or PG pass.
  • Requirements to pass level: 40% in each paper and 50% as aggregate in each Module.
  • Papers: 4
  • Exemptions: Final level Passed candidates of ICAI (CA) & ICMAI (CMA) are exempted from CSEET, and are eligible for CS Executive Level Exams. 

Executive Level

  • Eligibility: CSEET Pass or CA Final Exam Pass or CMA Final Exam Pass.
  • Requirements to pass level: 40% in each paper and 50% as aggregate in each Module.
  • Papers: 4 + 4 = 8 (4 papers per Module; 2 Modules in total)

Final Level

  • Eligibility: CS Executive pass + Completion of 30 days EDP + Completion of 21 Months of Practical Training.
  • Requirements to pass level: 40% in each paper and 50% as aggregate in each Module.
  • Papers: 3 + 3 + 3 = 9 (3 papers per Module; 3 Modules in total)
  • Completion of 30 Days CLDP is mandatory to become a CS Professional (Member of ICSI).
